Biography
Award winning photographer and watercolorist, Deborah Gibson Garst, began her early art training with lessons from Linden Gallery, Soon Bok Sellers, Ernst Haas, and UAB (Special Studies Photography Certification). More recently, she has attended seminars conducted by nationally and internationally known artists Cher Thompson, Mary Todd Beam, Doug Walton, Carrie Burns Brown, Miles Batt, and Pat San Souci. These many experiences awakened in her an interest in abstract painting and collage. Her work is included in the permanent collections of Alabama Power Company and South Trust Bank, as well as other private collections throughout the country. It is also on exhibit in central and south central Alabama.She participates in numerous art shows, enjoying membership in the Montgomery Art Guild, the Mountain Brook, Shelby County, and Vestavia Art Associations, the Experimental Artists of Alabama, the Elmore County Art Guild, the Sylacauga Art Guild, the Watercolor Society of Alabama, and is a member of the WAOAPOA Art Group. In addition to competing in shows herself, she has had the honor of judging several art competitions. She, also, gives workshops at various places.
