The WTSU-FM Radio Reading Service for the blind and visually impaired is part of the In Touch National 24-hour a day reading service. Each morning, volunteers gather at WTSU's radio studio to choose articles and prepare them for reading to their listening audience and then, for an hour, the Montgomery Advertiser is read to over 300 visually impaired listeners who have special receivers. The Troy University broadcast journalism students and volunteers in Troy handle all duties on Monday. In Montgomery, Tuesday through Friday, there are four regular volunteer readers each day who take turns reading the newspaper. There are usually twenty or twenty-five substitute readers which our regular readers can call upon if they should need to do so. Contact Carolyn at (click to send e-mail) for further information about this service. We would like to thank Dr. Bill Flinn, who is Vice President of Technology at Troy State University, for his support.
