Honor

Honor Treadaway was born in Montgomery, AL.  She has been painting, drawing and "making things" since she was old enough to get her fingers around a crayon and redecorate her nursery.  She grew up in a home where she was exposed to the wonders of the Arts and Sciences, and given private lessons in art, ballet and music.

Over the years, Honor has worn many hats and been owned by many cats.  She raised two sons, Jeb and Stuart; has lived in Oregon, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and Thailand; traveled extensively; experimented with as many arts and crafts as possible; tried on divers hats, such as apprentice piano technician (tuner helper) and horticulturist for Old Alabama Town; worked with youth groups, i.e. Cub Scout den leader and pianist for children's choirs, etc.  She has even been a soccer mom!

While caring for her Mother through a long terminal illness, Honor turned to painting for comfort and pleasure via Donnave Lindsey's watercolor classes.  She soon discovered that she thoroughly enjoyed painting both serious and silly portraits of cats.

Honor is a watercolor and collage artist as well as a cartoonist.  She is a free-lance horticultural writer holding a degree in Landscape and Ornamental Horticulture from Auburn University (with a minor in Medical Technology due to an interest in herbs).  Her articles on "Gardening Without Pain" appear in Crone Chronicles magazine.  She is currently writing newspaper articles on gardening for Southern Homes and Gardens that appear in The Wetumpka Herald and The Montgomery Advertiser's "Living in the South".  On top of all that, she is an assistant Avon rep, pianist, and retired professional harpist and harp teacher.

Her award winning artwork has appeared in various publications, regional shows, on greeting cards and is included in private collections across the USA and abroad.  She is a member of the Society of Arts and Crafts (SAC's), WAOAPOA, Experimental Artists of Alabama (EAA), the Montgomery Art Guild (MAG), the Elmore County Art Guild (ECAG), the American Horticulture Society (AHS) and the International Society of Folk Harpers and Craftsmen (ISFHC).
