Donnave Lindsey at her SAC's Gallery Reception

Donnave Lindsey graduated from Auburn University (then A.P.I.) with a degree in art in 1941. Two years later, she went to New York City to study with the Art Students' League with Reginald Marsh and Rene` Bouche`.  She worked in commercial art for about thirty years doing layouts for newspaper advertising, and pen and ink illustrations for Fawcett Publications, with a four-year stay in Los Angeles where she worked in the Art Department of the May Company department stores.  She kept up in fine art by continuing to do watercolor portraits for friends and family.

In 1974, she retired to Montgomery and devoted herself to painting and joined the Montgomery Art Guild.  In 1979, while she was president of Montgomery's Society of Arts & Crafts, she became one of the founders of SAC's Gallery and has held the position of Managing Director of SAC's for the past twenty years. Besides managing the gallery, she also teaches classes in portraits and watercolor and continues to take special portrait orders.  She has exhibited in numerous juried shows, winning many ribbons and special awards.
